Visit your local bookstore or library. Scan Netflix. Browse the Amazon bookstore.
How many hundreds of stories are put out into the public every single day?
Picture books, novels, comics, movies, TV episodes, theatrical plays, short stories, poems?
The vast vast vast majority of their creators are not making millions. Most are not even making a living wage.
But we keep
On
Creating
Stories.
So there must be some primal force that drives us to it.
Even people who don’t capture their stories in some medium still tell stories in their day to day life.
Is it a waste of time?
From the library of Alexandria on down through the ages would suggest no.
Not unless it is unfullfilling for you.
Then, yes. Then it is a waste of time. Someone told you (maybe you told yourself) you were an author/writer/whatever, but it’s been misery from day one.
Then stop. Find the other thing you are meant to do.
But otherwise? If you are compelled to capture and share your story?
Chances are very good it is not a waste of time.
The history of humankind backs me up.
